This working group will seek to draw on human rights, law and policy, transnational communication, international migration, and missing persons expertise.

The main task is to review existing policies and understand the challenges and opportunities to establish a shared policy agenda, reporting to and lobbying government groups to affect past, present and future MDVI.

Migrant Disaster Victim Identification:
A Survey to Understand Current Practices

This project contributes to the University’s role in conducting research/evaluation, and teaching research methods.

We are looking for volunteer participants in an online survey aimed at collecting information and insights from professional practitioners involved in forensic identification work, or in the search for persons gone missing on the migration journey to Europe. This survey aims to identify legal, technical, cultural, administrative, informational and institutional barriers that impede the successful location of missing persons and identification of unidentified human remains.

Participant recruitment is aimed at professionals working either in forensic human identification of unidentified human remains, or in the search for individuals who went missing during the migration to a European country. By consenting to participate, you will be provided with a single online survey (average 40 minutes to complete), including up to 134 questions regarding your professional work and the institutional context in which you complete this work.
